Unparalled picture quality when compared to ANY competition. Highest-end Fujitsu plasma is much more bright and vivid, but is terrible with dark scenes--can't produce color depth/accuracy, detail, dark blacks, true contrasts, or great gray levels. The Aconda's PQ is fantastic with every source, and HDTV is unreal. I give it a 4 of 5 on inputs because there is only 1 component input--so you can't hook up both HDTV and DVD with component cables, just one of the other. Cheers!

I've sold the Loewe's for 4 years and loved them so much, I now work for the Canandian distributor - Evolution Audio Video. The 38" has a dimmer contrast than the 30" models but if you compare hi-def on it even in 1080i, to the pic on a plasma, the plasma is brighter but the detail is twice as good on the Aconda. Plasma still looks matted in detail. As for the service issue, the 38" was assembled in the U.S. (originally) under license to Loewe. They weren't up to Loewe standards so they are now assembled in Germany with the others. As a result, some older units have a cold solder problem on the board and some have a transformer issue. Both are easily rectified as Loewe has identified the problems and they are fixing them as we speak. You still cannot get a better looking picture on ANY set, anywhere!!!

This is a beautiful TV capable of full 1080i high definition. Best picture I have seen in this size screen. The 38" picture is a little darker than the 30" model so compare.
I have not had good luck with keeping the set working however. I have had it for about two months now and it has gone out three time. I have heard of other people who have had similar problems so get a good warrenty.
All in all, the best set around when it is working. TG
