How I wish I didn't by the DST3000

I made a mistake and purchased the refurbished DST3000. The unit runs quite hot so I have to turn it off every night to cool it off. It takes sometimes for it to acquire guide data from cold start.

The worst thing about this thing is it has pixelation on most of the local channels. I had a Samsung receiver before this one and it received just fine. I spent a great deal of time messing around with the antenna: trying different kinds, adjusting the orientation and nothing helped. I sent the unit back to Toshiba hoping that they find something wrong with it and they did not find anything wrong. Well, I am stuck with an not quite so inexpensive piece of electronics. Next time, I buy it locally and definitely not a refurbish. Thanks for listening to my complaint.

This is a heavily optioned box, plenty of favorite lists and can tune in NTSC,ATSC,all cable and DirecTV-HD. HD-SD out is either/or (can't view HD and tape NTSC. All HD out is 16X9. On side by side test with normal DSS channels it is sharper than Sony Tivo DSS. Quite pleased with unit purchased used for $300.
