Hauppauges Worst Card Yet!

I have disappointedly owned one of these cards for about 3 months now. I have a P-4 2.66 ghz PC with 256 meg of ram, 120 gig hd, DVD drive, CD-RW drive and other features to numerous to mention for this review. My computer is runing windows XP home edition. First off I had problems scanning digital channels, after installing the card and software. Everytime it would lock in on a digital station I would get an error message from windowsXP and the Win2000 interface would crash. I contacted tech support and the gentelman told me to go to Intervideo's web site and down load and install WIN-DVD. He told me that they had codecs or what ever in their sofware that would fix the problem. Go figure, why isn't Hauppauge fixing their own problem. Anyway I did that and that corrected that problem. Second you need to down load from their site, a patch to enable transport stream capture and install that. If you are connected to an HDTV you will also need to have a PC monitor hooked up so that you can do stream capture via the Win2000 program interface, since there is no on screen displays via the component output hookup. This is accomplished by right clicking in the display window to bring up a popup and selecting stream capture. This method to me is very crude. Also while doing a capture there is no audio!!! and they know this! So if you want to listen to the program while recording it, you better get a second HDTV tuner of some sort. Also there is no way to pause a recording since it is a raw capture to a file. Play back is the same proceedure via the popup menu. Very tiedious to say the least. But wait thats not all. If you want to tune any muli cast program channels you have to install a registry update to WinXP and geuss what, you can only select those channels via the right mouse popup in the display window of Win2000. But wait again after installing the REG. file you loose the stream capture capability. It only generates an empty file. They know that this is a problem as well and to get the stream capture back you have to reinstall the patch once again, but then you loose the multi cast tunning. Need I say that if you want multi cast again, GEUSS WHAT! Also there is no way to tune multi cast channels with there remote. To some things up. If I could return this card for a refund I would do it in a heart beat!!! Steer Clear My Freinds!
