Transcoder
This is a device that converts one type of energy into another. A transcoder you might find and or need would be a RGBHV to component transcoder, which converts the RGBHV signal to component.

TV Type
There are many types of television. Most common are Direct-View CRTs and Rear Projection CRTs. More common these days are Plasma, LCD, DLP, D-ILA and more. Some technologies to watch in the future may be OLEDs, FOLEDs, RD3D and more, however none of these newer technologies has quite proven themselves in home theater setups!
