Fixed/Variable Audio Outputs
This determines how your receiver will control the volume of the television. If this setting is on ‘fixed’ you will not be able to control your TV’s volume with the receiver. In ‘fixed’ mode your TV will either turn it’s own speakers off, or it will only allow the TV or TV remote to change it’s volume. In ‘variable’ mode your receiver will be able to control the TV volume. If you have a surround sound system, you should not use your TV’s speakers as this will only downgrade the audio experience.
Front/Side Composite Input
These are composite inputs that are either on the front or side of the TV that is easily accessible. These inputs are usually used to hook up a digital camera, video game console or laptop for temporary usage. This is opposed to not having any front or side composite inputs where you would have to go behind the TV every time you wanted to hook something up temporarily.
Front/Side S-Video Input
The same as ‘Front/Side Composite Input’ but for S-Video inputs instead of with composite video.
