I bought it used on eBay 3 weeks ago, and it is a gem. It has inputs for cable AND satelite AND off the air signals. You can have All three working at the same time if you wish; or any combination of the three. I get ALL greater Atlanta local DTV channels perfectly, IF the wind is calm*, with the exception of channel 63's 5 multicast stations. Most of the time I do not pull any of the 5 in. I have many tall trees surrounding my house and even though my outdoor antenna is well above the second story, the trees cause intermittent loss of DTV signal, IF, the wind is blowing. If not, the receoption is perfect on ALL 22 DTV channels (except the 5 listed above). Sadly, MOST of the time, NONE of the 22 are transmitting in HD. But I am sure this will improve drammatically as time goes by. I cannot say enough good things about the Samsung SIR-TS360 HDTV receiver. Sadly they do NOT make it any more. And NOTHING they (or any one else) has, is as good, in my opnion. I was lucky to find one in mint condition with all the accessories on eBay for less than half the original cost. For some reason the "signal strength" feature may NOT be working correctly on the "off the air" channels. As it goes from 0% to 100% up and down constantly on EVERY channel whether the wind is blowing or not. Yet I ONLY have intermittent loss of signal IF the wind is blowing except on channel 63 (and all 5 of its channels rarely come in). I might improve this with a slight adjustment to my outdoor antenna. (NOTE: I do not at present have cable or satelite, so I can't test the signal strength meter built into the Receiver on these signals.) I have a rotor but I have not tried to move it yet. I will do this shortly. Over all, I could NOT be more pleased with "off the air" DTV, AND the seldom broadcast HD programs, which are incredibly beautiful, when they do broadcast HD on my Panasonic HDTV ready 36" TV I bought last year. I do NOT want to go to either cable OR satelite, since there is NOTHING that I wish to see, (being a devout Christian), that I don't get on the 22 channels I get now, EXCEPT for the intermittent loss of signals when the wind is blowing on given channels. I may be forced to go satelite (IF they can get a clear shot above the tree line) just to get consistent signals. I won't go cable even if it means I have to live with intermittent loss of signal when the wind blows. I tried several "in line" signal amplifiers, but I saw NO improvment; and in the case of one of them (a 25DB gain RCA amplifier from Home Depot) it caused me to LOSE some of the channels I was receiving without amplification. This may be due to input overload, causing serious cross modulation because of one or more strong signals. It did have a switchable FM trap for just this purpose but it had little affect on my problem. So it was not due to too strong an FM station. Must have been one or more of the low VHF channels (since they are usually the strongest). The 10DB gain Wal mart amp worked quite well when I added two 4 way splitters fed by one 2 way splitter (which I am going to need) in its output. Since a 4 way has a 7DB loss and the 2 way (in series) has a 3.5DB loss, it ends up with a "unity" gain, which is fine. IE, amplifer (+10DB) plus 2 way (-3.5DB) plus 4 way (-7DB) equals -.5. Or "0" for all practical purposes. Although the number of channels received increased, and some channels registered phenomenal signal strength, I also lost some channels. This prompted me to painstakingly find a spot in my attic that would pull in all my local channels with considerable signal strength. I settled for a spot that a gave me a signal of at least 75%,since 68% is the cut-off to have a good-enough (green) signal. My Direct Stream HD3150 HDTV tuner also gives a signal-to-noise ratio. I also would like to mention that my search for the right spot was affected by the presence of physical barriers in the attic like aluminum air ducts and wood frames. I initially planned to mount the antenna using the supplied metal tube and base. I found a good-enough spot where I cannot use the supplied base. I ended up placing the antenna on top of an old metal speaker stand and secured it with a rubber band. Since no one will be going up there to mess it up, I decided to leave it that way until I find a better way. But for now, I am just going to enjoy the glorious picture of my 65" HDTV for free!!! Alot of the really good primetime shows ARE in High Def, but the news, commercials, and older shows are not. But still the picture looks MUCH better than Satellite (I had Dish), or Analog over the air reception. And the HDTV shows will blow you away when you see them. Trust me, you won't want to go back to booring Standard Def. I've heard good things about the Samsung Tuner being one of the best for locking on and holding signals. That may be a big factor in the good results we're getting.
